Beneficial weekend event
The A.P. Chekhov State Literary-Memorial Museum-Reserve "Melikhovo" needs volunteers to help.
Our Museum invites the participation of volunteer organizations and companies with a demonstrated track record of actively implementing social justice programs for the “Beneficial Weekend” event:.
The Chekhov Garden is perhaps the most unusual, intriguing and attractive place in Melikhovo.
"The garden ~ is exhibit number one," – said, in his time, the founder of the Museum-Reserve, Yuri K. Avdeev. "...If I had quit literature cold turkey now and become a gardener, it would have been very good, it would have added about ten years to my life."
In 2012, the first Chekhov Garden celebrated its 120th anniversary. This was precisely the year that the Museum launched the annual “Beneficial Weekend” event.
At this event, volunteers help the Chekhov Garden to blossom and maintain the yards of the two Chekhov schools located in the villages of Melikhovo and Talezh.
Between 2012 - 2016, the following organizations and companies took part in the event:
the Russian-German Joint Venture Company Schattdecor (Chekhov city), Caterpillar Inc. (Moscow), Kraft Foods Group Rus, Inc., ABBYY, Mondellez International, MTS, TNK-BP, Abbott Laboratories, VEROPHARM, Thomas Publishing House (Moscow), and the public organizations Greenboard, Chekhov City Sobriety Movement, Russian State University of Tourism and Services Studies (RSUTS), Moscow Finance and Law Academy (Chekhov City), Professional School №32 (Chekhov City), International Lyceum (Troitsk), State Budgetary Educational Institution (SBEI) ~ Lyceum Second School (Moscow), Lyceum of the South-Eastern District (Moscow), the Anglo-American School (Moscow), School №1329 (Moscow), Puma Dance School (Moscow), individual visitors and families of Melikhovo Village, Chekhov City, Serpukhov, Podolsk, Domodedovo, Korolyov, and Moscow.
After the hard work, the Museum staff prepare an interesting program for the participants:
a performance by the Melikhovo Chekhov Studio Theatre
a tour of the Museum-Reserve.
We hope that this event will provide an opportunity to meet new friends of the Museum and will inspire more people to join the ranks of those who admire the great Russian writer.
The “Beneficial Weekend” event starts at 11.00. We look forward to seeing you!
